Hi all... We've just installed some used kitchen cabinets that will need painting - the dilemma of coarse is the color ...
I see many pictures of flat black cupboards in log homes that look relatively acceptable, but I'd rather find something that I like even more. I see that there are zillions of pictures on here but I have dialup - so cannot sift through them very efficiently. Anyone here have some pics on thier profile of painted cabinets and feel that they have found a really nice color ?? Our logs are light in color so i'd rather go darker but am open for anything...thanks in advance!!
I LOVE THOSE GREEN CABINETS!
I have cherry color for my kitchen cabinets. They look really good and go well with the kitchen.
I agree with Eugene cherry cabinets look great I have them in my kitchen
I actually like the white.
I am just about done building my wifes kitchen, and she said she wanted a softer antique white this time around (the last kitchen was natural wood). She just wanted simple shaker style flat panel overlays with slab fronts (used maple and some ash).
The wall cabs are 42", with adjustable shelves, and some of those doors are antique style water glass, full view just like she wanted them. Everything had to be soft close, and all the base cabs have full slideouts (scrounged materials from the wood lot).
The counters are wider then normal (about 27", and she really likes tile as her choice (always has). So we went with a slab tile this time around that looks like bluish and rust streaked steel (Espana Feroker from HD). The back splash is a subway tile we picked up at lowes for .99 ea., they are about 3"x12".
I was going to do the front of the counter in a hammered steel, but she prefers the painted trim.
I built the Island out of free salvaged materials and she antiqued it.
Her paint choice was a Ben Moore Advance (snail drying paint). 4 coats, which I used a cheap Campbell Hausfeld multi purpose sprayer and a pancake compressor (which are not made for this work, but I sprayed as I built) . I actually liked the white after I did it.
Of course this is not my log cabin section, its the barn addition, where our living room and kitchen are located. So its drywalled and painted, no logs. She wanted all the lines of the cabs and Island, very clean and simple and functional (which is why all the base cabs have slide outs). I could have built inset cabinets, but she likes the space, and not sticky doors (we can get a lot of swelling here). I would have loved to do a farm sink, but "cha ching" ....although when I went in Ikea last month they had a very reasonably priced farm sink. So she chose a black granite double bowel drop in (I think its a pegasus). I also built her an 8' tall pantry cab, with full slides in that as well. She has to use the step stool to get to the top, but she puts the extra or items not often used up there. :)
I think a dark green or yellow would look gorgeous in your log home and really make it pop!
