The Log Home Neighborhood

An online log home community for log home enthusiasts.

We will be building in the Blue Ridge Mountains soon, and we will be trying to stage some of the work (i.e. expenses) so that have less to do at build time.  We already have two areas perc tested, and one is close to the desired build site. We also have a couple of favorite plans...we plan to build under 2000 sf not including a walk out basement/shop.  I have  three   questions...

1. Should we have a surveyor come out to inspect the site to evaluate and confirm and/or recommend a different site to minimize potential ledge blasting.

2. We hoped to go ahead and place a well, but I think that depends upon gettin no 1 done...and

3. We would like to get some minor site prep such as tree removal, loose rock moving, and driveway started.

We would be paying cash out of pocket for the above, and the tree removal and loose rock relocation we can do when we are on vacation in Va.

We already have a temp power post in place, because we camp at our site.

All thoughts, suggestions, and recommendation welcome. Thanks!
