I have a large window in my stairwell - about 4 feet by 6 ft  - and I want to do a "bump out" window seat but am at a loss for design.  I am thinking about book cases on the sides - and of course a mini chandelier.  Maybe a stained glass window - any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi Dee, I love window seats as much as our dog and cat do. We put one in our kitchenette area, we put hinges on the top so that I have storage inside of the window seat which works out great. Would you happen to have a photo of the area for insight? Lisa

Sorry Lisa - for taking so long to reply - life really got in the way.  No pictures as it is just a hole in the wall right now.  I am thinking about a bump out - and like your idea of a lift up seat for storage.  That should work fine.  I am also thinking about side bookcases.  I'm still wondering about the window itself.  Should it open?  Would stained glass be too much?  etc.
