How do you brighten up the inside of a log home that is dark inside? The logs absorb the light.

Will a clear glossy interior finish brighten up the inside of the home?  Is it worth the time and money to do it?  Our home is dark inside.  I thought this might reflect light better.  Any thoughts?

Big Beautiful Log Homes...vs...Small Beautiful Log Homes

I can't help but notice that most pictures of logs homes that I have come across are those of the very large, very beautifal homes. Our home is not large, but, very cozy and warm. I don't see many homes of that size in the magazines. Maybe I am just not looking in the right places.
