So many books and magazines have stressed the importance of taking your time when building a log home. It seems that most take 18 months to 2 years or more. We planned for nearly 10 years so when it came down to D-day (logs delivered mid June) we figured we'd be moved in by Christmas if we oversaw the whole process by living on site.
How'd we do? I've written a pictorial essay, downloadable from Amazon (free if you're a Prime member) for only 99 cents. You can find it…

Hi, I thought it was finally time to chronicle the journey from sketch to permanent home. Starting on June 19 and posting every other day I will show you how we got from an idea to a really great and happy conclusion. I'll do this on my author's blog : Edge of Escape. You can subscribe to emails there if you want to catch all posts or stop in anytime and catch up. When I finish I'll post the completed project as its own…

Thanks. I couldn't help but notice your profile. My son, Greg, also teaches High School, English & Spanish in Lincoln, Montana. He also writes books. I thought that was awesome.
P.S. Your cabin is beautiful.

Thank you Debra!! =) We are enjoying our log home. We still have much work to do, but what's done is so cozy and nice. The fireplace does make the snow much better...even with this incredibly mild winter thus far. I'm just like you I never want to leave!
Thanks again,
Bill
