"You can fix the exterior deck joists to the exterior wall and add posts like in this repair of two second story decks that had rotted away in Yosemite or you can replace the affected floor joists at least all the way across to the next…"

"It’s actually called a cantilevered balcony or deck.. when your log floor joists run past the exterior wall of your log home to create an exterior deck.. and yes if they continue to rot not only will the deck fall away but the interior floor…"

"John,  Eek! Those rotted logs are no fun. Thankfully, there are log restoration pros who handle this kind of thing regularly. It's not cheap, but they'll know how to go about it correctly without compromising the structure…"

Looking for help with this horrible problem, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.My second floor bedroom has a balcony.  The logs run through the entire house and go through the exterior wall to outside, where it's holding up the balcony.  One of the end logs I've discovered is rotten, clear up to the cabin wall (outside)I'm afraid if the rot continues not only will my balcony fall but it may rot all the way in until my second floor may be compromised!I've contacted the builder that…See More
