Mark and Kathryn's Construction

Hello! Mark and I are new to this site. We saw it in one of the Log Home Magazines and thought it would be a good idea to connect with others that were loving their experiences with Log Homes.

We live in Colorado and bought 40 acres about 2 years ago right on one of Colorado's best fishing reservoirs. We started then building and we are about ready to put a roof on the first of two houses that will be where we live out the rest of our lives. We built the barn first so our horses would have… Continue

Welllllll...we're doing all the purchasing and supplies for the construction, so we don't give up any 10-20% to the GC to do that. We're also very involved and I"m doing as much of the work, as possible. Currently, I'm prepping and tiling the shower to get to plumbing final, and then I have some railing to put up to get to occuppancy, but there will still be an unfinished basement to work on and some floor work on the main floor.

A belated welcome to the neighborhood! I'm with Sashco, also in Colorado. We make stains & other finishing products for log homes, so when you get to that point, feel free to drop me a note & I'll get some info going your way.

On another note, I should tell you that my hubby would be very jealous of your location on 11 Mile. He is an avid angler (read: 3 or 4 times a week, so long as the ice is melted). He sticks to town fishing most of the time but takes weekend trips all over the state. 11 Mile is one of his fave reservoirs.

Your home looks like it is coming along. Good for you for doing the work yourself!

I love Colorado Kathyrn! If I didn't live in Michigan - then Colorado or Montana would be the place for me! I hope you continue to post photos of your project! It will be fun to document!
We set up a blog from the beginning days showing our log delivery, construction all the way to today about our life in a log cabin. It's become an unfolding story. I bet yours would make a wonderful story as well!!! If you would like to check it out: www.logcabininmichigan.blogspot.com
