Hi Patty. Love your pictures, too. I hope you're enjoying your log home as much as we enjoy ours. We never want to leave. It's so comforting just being inside. Your fireplace is fabulous, it'll make the snow so much better.

Hello Patty.  Just saw your pictures.  Your home looks awesome.  It is just the look we are going for.  How is Lazarus to deal with.  did they deliver what they said they would at the right price.  What does your builder think of the quality of their kit.  We are still a ways away from building 3-5 years.  trying to narrow down all the chices on the market.  Lazarus is one of my top choices and any feedback would be appreciated.

Thank You; Mike

Hi, Patty - our home is under Douglas Hill's name on Facebook (my husband). Sorry about that - we have different last names! Your log home looks awesome. I'm leaving the state for a few days soon but will return next week. Our experience truly has been challenging. We love our home, but I doubt it will be done before the holidays. Will be a year in January since we started the basement dig. Take care and thanks for adding us as a friend!

Good morning Patty. At what stage are you at in your building project ? I may be able to offer some practical suggestions on simple but important features when designing and building your log home. For example,
*keeping the bottom log at least 18 to 30 inches above final grade,
* minimum 30 inch overhangs and gutters ( all to keep the logs as dry as possible in most weather conditions ).
*Ice shield in all valleys and two rows overlaping around bottom of roof, Alge resistant shingles.
I can provide you with suggestions on prepping and staining the exterior and interior of the logs as well.
Feel free to e-mail me at
Thanks, Terry
