We own a 2.5 acre mountain lot at Grandview Peaks in Nebo NC. We are starting the process of meeting with builders to discuss the floor plan that Donna and I have designed and to get feedback and ballpark estimates as to cost. Then we will have plans drawn. We are looking to build around the end of 2012.
Are you lucky enough to be living in a log home?
What timeframe are you looking to start your dream home?
Hello Folks,There is no question that North Carolina is log home country. I have built in western Carolina on Lake Lure. People build on lots you can't even walk on for the view. I liked everything about North Carolina including the shine but, the taxes are killer. If you are retiring this needs to be part of your research process. They tax everything except your cat. I worked with a carpenter who drove a pickup with a 700.00 tax bill and on top of that, they have sales tax. Delaware has very low state taxes and no sales tax. We are between the Atlantic Ocean and the Chesapeake Bay,Washington DC. is a short drive,as well as Baltimore and Philadelphia. Sussex County has lots of country land and waterfront property at good prices. Perfect for retirement or starting a new career. Yall come. Jim and Pam Katahdin Cedar Log Homes
