Panelized log homes are similar to and often mistaken for modular homes. Both are systems-built and fabricated indoors before being shipped to the building site, but "modular homes are made from entire prefinished sections, not walls, and are usually set with a crane" explains Benny Blakley, a contractor and dealer for Whisper Creek Log Homes. "With panelized construction, each wall is put together before construction and then set individually, allowing for more customized interiors." Here are some characteristics of panelized log construction:

1. Because they require no specialized labor to make or build, they often cost less then traditional log homes.
2. Settling caused by log shrinkage and compression is reduced, if not, eliminated.
3. Once the pre-stained log panels arrive at the site, they can be erected and the home brought under roof in 5 to 7 working days.
