Hello,
I am new to this Log Home blog. Actually, I am new to the whole log home scene. My husband and I purchased a log cabin in November 2010. This cabin is 28 years old. It has not been used much with minimal love given to it. Everything is original and barely used, feels like you are in a time warp. We do plan on replacing the orange colonial furniture, after the re-no work is completed. LOL
We plan on chinking the interior first (due to the winter temps right now). The…

Now Spring restores the balmy heat, now Zephyr's sweet breezes calm the rage of the equinoctial sky.
Poem 46, Catullus (Roman poet)
I just wanted to let you know it is a balmy 64 degrees in the cabin with the thermostat set at 62.
Phone message, Mr. Seals (Virginia contractor)

Hello to All
I am sorry to report my worst fears were confirmed. My log home provider is gone as of January 1st 2011. I spoke with them on December 17th and all was well. I was missing some rafters for the porch roof and some fascia board. They said they would call…

While I was squeezing fresh oranges from my mother's tree for my morning juice in California, Richmond was suffering freezing ice and snow and wind. It was a good time to get serious about the heat.

Wow, it's hard to believe it's been 35 years since Kathy and I started the business together. It's humbling to think all we've built and accomplished over the years, especially since we started with nothing but passion and big dreams. We wanted to help…

Hi,
I have been selling houses and commercial log buildings for a company in the US for the last 15 years.
We parted company last year and I am looking for a manufacturer who is willing to fund an advertising campaign along with Sales Executive expenses in Europe, where the demand for log buildings is now huge!
I can negotiate at board level and can bring in sales for a manufacturer whom is willing to invest a relatively small amount for great returns.
Should you…

Hello LogHome Neighbors,
Building a log home is naturally not only popular in Northern America but also in the Northern countries in Europe. We, a German-Finnish couple, are building our second home on a lakeside property in Finland.
We will be building our log home so-called Villa Linnea during the winter 2010/2011 with the logs being assembled during February and March 2011. The logs are pre-cut and manufactured by one of the biggest log house manufacturers in…

I know there's a lot of restoration/repair companies here so I wanted to post a warning. Be on the lookout for a log repair job inquirey comming from Southern Texas. They will tell you that they will pay you to look at the house but they won't. A motel there will cost you over a $100.00 a night. Travel at your own risk for this one

Well, it only took 2 and half months, but the roof is finally finished. 100%. Looks good. A few days before Christmas the roof was finally done! That allowed us to finally go hog wild getting ceilings hung. We posted a few pics of the ceilings going up at that point.
Since then, the GC got the high ceilings hung and the doormers pretty much done. As we mentioned before, we prestained all our ceiling material. Since it was stained, they also did the trim (also…

We met Mr. Seals at the cabin on New Years Day. It was the weekend and he wanted to touch base with us before he and his wife Robin went to the movie. Darien wondered what they would be seeing. I told her True Grit, most likely.
