As noted on many occasions within Country's Best Cabins, cabins aren't defined by metrics but rather a feeling. Each person has a unique cabin experience, resulting in his or her unique approach to creating a dream retreat.
The variety of rustic materials on the market helps cabin owners personalize their particular structure, whether they…

Of course back then he was singing about something other than saving the environment. In today’s world of marketing, the word green has taken on a whole different meaning. Seeing the pictures of Nemo's effects on the Northeast may be enough to make you second-guess building in an area subject to extreme weather. But ample snow can be manageable with the right design in mind.
Snowfall and its relation to the site should be a major point of consideration at the onset of the design process. Many people may try to take a plan and just put it on the site, instead of making adjustments, which can result in water issues in the home or drainage around the home.…

Hello Everyone, I see folks saying they are talking to general contractors to get prices to build their log home. If they are not talking to a log home general contractor they are opening themselves up to all kinds of problems. Dealer/builders are the most qualified to do your project. I have a 6 yr old 2100 sq ft log home in Vermont. Condensation and ice is building up on the Pella windows and they are telling me it is all because of humidity. The house runs about 40 - 45% humidity with a dehumidifier in the finished basement and one in the great room. We cant stand the sound in the great room so i need a solution. I am told a air/heat exchange system would take care of it but i would think running duct work etc in a log home is very difficult. Any suggestions would…
