Hi, everyone! I have been playing with this cool design tool that is coming soon for my clients use. These are screen shots of what I am looking at as I virtually walk through the house. The new part is the cool shadows that are generated from each object. It makes the interior look more realistic for determining size of rooms etc. You can also hit the F8 key and you will jump into an orthographic view where you can spin the whole house around and zoom in and out etc.

Hi Greg, Happy New Year!!! Sorry, I have been real busy redoing my website. I would be glad to help you out if you don't mind being low priority. I still have to keep the cash flow going.

Hey, Rick I appreciate your reply of help, it would be nice to have some guidance instead of running blind hoping for a good outcome, I do love the timberframe look and was hoping I could mimic the look with box beams, I dont think the carpenter or myself are mastercraftsmen enough, capable of a true timberframe, I'd sure love to impersonate one though ! I have to clean house for Christmas, I'll talk to you later, have a great holiday with your family, G.Beck in MO

Bob, this is an add-on. It's called Zermatt. You save out from your cadd program to a 3ds file. Then you load that file into Zermatt and you can then walk through your home. Very Cool. The shading is a big step up from anything that i have seen.

Sure Greg, I'll give you a hand. Are you the carpenter? Looks like you have a good start on it. Have you ever heard of a Trimberframe? That isn't misspelled. You use trim to look like timbers. I'm seeing a beautiful looking timber frame house there, if you do it right.

This is very nice. I asked in your post regarding the drawings for this house how the great room area looked, and low and behold, here it is, in almost living color. I assume this is some sort of add-on to your CAD program or something. I use SketchUp for non-log home stuff, but there is no built-in F8 key combo to do what you described, so I assume its something a bit more sophisticated (Though this could be done with SketchUp, though it would be a bit tedious, to say the least)

that is cool, any chance you would like to help a diy cabin builder do some designing, we have a basic plan we are going with but I am a layman with no experience, I'd kinda like to do a blog cabin & get some feedback, Thanks G Beck in MO.
