Has anyone else started decorating their log home for Autumn? I'm sure I'm like the other "mid westers" as we love seeing the leaves change, it's football season (private note to Shad - I'm not sure what the Detroit Lions are doing would be called football!). And I think the log home is just the perfect place to get in the fall mood! I've been shopping a little crazy (my husband is cringing and asking how many "fake" pumpkins can a girl buy? And I haven't even started on the real pumpkins!) Hoping other members post their fall deco pictures and any good shopping tips. Scarecrows and hay are next on my list....

Hi Shelly, Love your fall decorating. I have done a few things. They are on my new photos added yesterday. I am ready for fall. We missed it last year because we did not get into our home until November 2.It had started to snow at that point. Dianne, I hear ya! We were there last year! We have an Autumn Glory Festival in Oakland, MD. It was chosen#1 last year by MSN. The link is: Have a wonderful autumn. Alexis

Awww Shell, you know I'd love to be here sharing photos and ideas with the neighborhood. Unfortunately the state of affairs at the site right now is such that I can't even get onto the porch, much less think about adding a scarecrow or pumpkin!

Still, I love to see what others have done (there's always next year) so I second that request to share...share...share...

Tom, your cabin is so inviting to anyone. It truly is the sweetest place to visit. Barbara is an OUTSTANDING decorator. By the way, I'm calling her in five minutes to remind her to give your more "stuff" or I mean "decorating" to do. Ha Ha. CJ from Virginia

Hey Shelley;

Yea, my wife has done her FALL cleaning and has me digging out all of her Autumn stuff from the attic and is going all the way as usual. Outside we have fall flowers going into the garden, adding new Dwarf Alberta Spruce and staining our window trim (outside) a translucent barn red to match the roof. Inside, all of the summer flowers - both real and artificial - are being replaced by the fall ones. All of the bed covers are being replaced with the heavier and darker colored spreads and shams. And of course we have to change the window treatments to match. I just know there is more to come but we have several County Fairs to set our booth up at so I will get a little rest from that but she will still be planning more while we are there. I don't know how you ladies do it.

I kid her about it but when she is finished it really looks great. Don't tell her I said that!

I may live in a little apartment outside Washington, DC, but don't think that means I don't go all out when it comes to decorating! My string of pumpkin lights is already hanging from my balcony and will stay there until it's time for the Christmas lights (day after Thanksgiving). When it comes to decorating, my motto is go big or GO HOME! :)

Hi Shelley!

Funny you should mention the decorating; my wife has already busted out not only the autumn stuff, but her Halloween decorations! I kid you not, we have ghosts hanging from our chandelier above the dining room table. This is our favorite time of year and she goes all out... but damn, she's nearly as bad as the stores putting out Christmas decorations before Halloween! It's still September and I have ghosts floating above my head as I eat!

As for Detroit,yeah they ain't lookin' so hot - but hey, there's sunshine peeking through those clouds! Calvin Johnson is looking like a pro-bowl candidate right now, and has the stats to prove it. If the rest of the team can start stepping up, they'll turn it around. I managed to get to the 'Skins game on Sunday. Good game, with lots of rowdy, excited fans (OK, yeah, I might have been one of them!). I'm going again this Sunday to see them play the Cardinals. I'm from Arizona, so I won't mind if they win, but I'll be wearing my 'Skins colors!
