Our beautiful new home will be arriving in just 6 days. I know it is just the shell and there is still so much to do before it will truly be our home but I can hardly wait. It is also so frustrating - I had surgery on my foot a week ago and will be unable to participate in the actual set-up. I am hoping to get around on our ATV and take pictures with the digital camera. I have also decided that hot fresh baking for coffee breaks and hot lunches will be in order as the temperature has taken a dip and I know it will be chilly working in the wind. I have my menus all planned, I just need to do my shopping and I will be set to do my part. Everytime I think about it my stomach gets tied up in knots !!

Hi Maryann,

It was so exciting to watch our home going up. We had an excellent crew of guys - 12 in all.
On the afternoon of the first day a young couple, who are considering using the same log home company, came to look around. The next day the husband showed up to help, said he just in the area after work and thought he stop by. I think the excitment was contagious!
We are going to do as much of the finishing as we can. My husband is a plumber by trade so he can take care of plumbing and heating and he will also do the electrical. We will also do interior framing and hang the drywall but hire someone to tape, mud and sand it.

Our home is handcrafted douglas fir from Canada's Log People in 100 Mile House, British Columbia.
Thanks for your best wishes, Marla

Hi Marla
I am so excited for you!. I know just how you feel. Our new log home arrived March 06 and I was so excited thats all I could think about. We lived 325miles from our new home site and I worked as a nurse, fortunately I was on days off when the house arrived and it killed me to have only 2 days to observe the crew and take pictures of the setting up process. I could hardly wait to get back to see the finished "shell". We bought a Whisper Creek Log Home. We did are still doing all the finishing work. We moved in, in December 07 it was still pretty raw but we enjoyed Christmas with all our children and grandchildren here. We worked hard thru the winter & our home is beautiful although it is still a work in progress, the major work is done. We did all outside work this summer including building a detached garage. We have had so many lovely comments on it. Today as I write we have a crew here installing our wood burning stove. I can't wait to start the first fire, and cuddle up by it.
Congratulations on your new home (what kind is it?) Are you doing the finishing work? I wish you the best, and happiness always in your new log home. ~Maryann

Congrats Marla!

And if you have any of the fresh baking left over, send it this way!

The log builder arrives today to check the site and decide where to situate the crane. The first truck is scheduled to arrive at 7 am (its still going to be dark) tomorrow. I have baked 5 different kinds of cookies (14 dozen in all), beef is in the oven for beef on a bun. So all I have left to do today is make a layered salad, buns for the beef, branding beans, cinnamon buns and cranberry orange tea scones.

Thank you for the good luck wishes!!

Marla, I am so excited for you!!! If my calculations are correct, your new home should be arriving today. Good luck and keep us posted on the progress. Good luck with healing, as well. Anne

Hi, Maria
So exciting for you! And too bad about your foot...but you'll have plenty of opportunities to take lots of photos. I know I'll be exactly the same when it's time to put up our shell...I'll probably sleep all night in the driveway!
