The Log Home Neighborhood

An online log home community for log home enthusiasts.

The Log Home and Timber Show is just around the corner! At least, for those in the Northern Virginia area. Anyone planning on going? (I would expect to see the Log Home U staff there - it's all of what, a mile from your offices? ;-) Anyone want to meet n' greet and say howdy to your fellow Log Home Neighbors?

Chantilly Log and Timber Home Show Information

I plan on bringing my camera - so be prepared to have your picture taken and your mug splashed up on the pages here!

And hey, Andrew, Michael, Donna or Sara - you guys need a pack mule? Someone to haul magazines, brochures, slicks, what-have-you over to the show? I make a good gopher!

Sunday probably works best for me. A lot less going on that day. How about everyone else? We can meet at the Log Home Living exhibit which will allow us to meet Michael and Andrew and Donna, and whatever other staff show up. I was planning on shooting for early afternoon? Around 1? I'm wide open time-wise though, so if others feel the need to get there earlier or later, just chime in!

Looking forward to meeting everyone! :)

Hey Shad. I hope you'll be there on Sunday, my friend, because that's the only day I'll be there--but I will be on site all day. I hope to see you. In fact, I hope to see everyone who's part of the log home neighborhood in attendance! Maybe as a magazine editor I shouldn't say this, but reading about log homes, studying floor plans and getting inspired by the amazing homes we showcase is fantastic, but nothing can take the place of visiting the Log & Timber Home Show. First, the sweet aroma of wood fills your nostrils; then you see it--log and timber structures, hundreds of exhibitors with scads of floor plans and notebooks bearing the gorgeous photos of homes they've completed, and free workshops to help you educate yourself--not to mention the furniture and lighting providers who can help you outfit your home when it's done. I've been to two shows already this fall and I still get excited to go. When you come, stop by the magazine booth to say hi. I hope you'll all be there.

We'll be there. Can't wait. I have heard a lot of good things about this show. Hope to see you all there. Any input on the high points of the show we just have to see?

I would love to meet my neighbors from the 'hood! Like Michael, we have a youth baseball tournament competing for our time that weekend. Hopefully we'll be able to do both (or maybe it will rain!!) We went to this show two years ago and had a great time - got lots of ideas and some cool antler and cowhide stuff. I hope lots of folks from LogHomeU attend! I'll keep checking this blog for updates.

Hello Shad!

Yep, the show is next weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun, Oct 24-26)----it's the biggest log and timber show in the world. I know that sounds like a big fat commercial, but it's true. And it's also pretty cool. It's at the Dulles Expo Center. If anyone in the Mid-Atlantic region wants to drop by, you'll see a ton of reps from log home companies, land companies, mortgage companies, furniture-makers and craftsmen, etc.

Our editorial staff will be there just about all weekend. I coach a Little League game on Saturday morning, but should be at the show by noon.

It's always great for us to attend these shows because we get to meet readers, ask them questions about their projects, get feedback about the magazine, etc. I always walk away from these three-day events having learned a TON from log-home enthusiasts. It's yet another reason why I love this gig...

Thanks, Shad, for the offer to be our pack mule! Actually, our show staff covers everything, so I think we're fine. Just show up, take in the sights and sounds, and say hello...our magazine staff has a booth at the show.

Take care, and have a wonderful weekend!

(What? It's only Thursday? Crap.)
