The Log Home Neighborhood

An online log home community for log home enthusiasts.

I just traveled back in time. At least it felt like it. My husband, daughter and I just returned from an extended 4th of July weekend at his aunt and uncle's lakeside vacation house at Indian Lake, Ohio. On the 4th itself, 14 of us gathered for an old-fashioned family picnic, where we chowed down on burgers and watermelon, played lawn games (I learned the art of "cornhole"--a beanbag-toss game that's all the rage in the Midwest), and did cannonballs from the dock (well, the kids did anyway). On Saturday we took the pontoon boat out to a manmade beach, which, for the holiday, also boasted a classic car show and tons of greasy-good carnival food (funnel cakes and corndogs anyone?). Later that afternoon, we enjoyed the fireworks show from the boat. It was the kind of laid-back weekend that lingers with you long after you've rejoined the rat race.

But even on vacation, log homes are never far from my mind, and on this particular trip, I found a few waterfront beauties that I just had to share. So here are a few photos from my All-American weekend. Hope you enjoyed your Independence Day as much as I did.
