The Log Home Neighborhood

An online log home community for log home enthusiasts.

Hey everybody! Well, it's about time to start this house building project full swing. We closed on our construction loan last week and are now ready to get things rolling. We posted some pictures of our latest projects.

The driveway is finished and our parking area is all graded and ready for parking! The septic line is to the house and the conduit for the utilities is run from where the pole is going to the foundation. We started laying out the lines for the floor drains in the garage and basement in preparation to set the tubing for the radiant heat. Once it's laid out, we'll be ready for concrete.

Our builder is going to start cutting logs soon and is planning on starting on-site in mid to late-May. We've been doing a lot of pricing of materials lately and have done some rough sketch work on a kitchen layout. It seems there is so much to think about; we hope we can keep up with everything.

So, keep an eye out for updates from us, because we will be trying our hardest to keep pictures and our thoughts posted as we begin the project full swing. We can't wait to share all our projects and thoughts and ideas with you all. We have ideas that are out there for some perhaps, but we think they'll work out and we'll have a really unique home. Can't wait to share it with you all!

We're planning on having a muddy boot party once we have a little structure in place so everyone can stop and see what's going on and why we're so excited! Stay tuned!

Your story sounds exactly like my story!!!! We started in April 08 clearing our acreage and building the road, the logs arrived in Oct. 08 we moved into our home in Aug. 09 although it was incomplete we lived in the mess lol. We are almost done 97% ish or so. We still need handrails both inside and out and interior doors.....cant wait to close a door. I will post pictures as I just joined yesterday, I have tons of video and pictures of the whole process. My husband and I built it ourselves with the help of a lot of friends lol. This is his 9th log home but his first(the other 9 were for others) hope to see lots of pics of your build and I wish you tons of luck!!
