Log homes have a long, ancient history in North America and Europe, with particularly strong roots in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe where straight, tall tree trunks are often readily available in many regions. In recent decades, another part of the world has caught on to the lure of log homes: Ireland.

Though log cabins and Ireland aren't two things that are typically paired together, the Irish, too, can't refuse the rustic, cozy, and peaceful lifestyle often associated with log homes. To celebrate St. Patrick's Day and all things Irish this month of March, we're sharing snippets of some of the log houses and cabins that can be found throughout the Emerald Isle. Sláinte!
