Log Cabin Directory

Profile Information

Tell us about yourself:
My bride and I share our log home with four cats (2 inside & 2 outside) and one HUGE puppy, Lilly Belle, our very Great Pyrenees.  I am the founder and editor of the Log Home Directory. I have been avidly engaged in the log home and timber frame industry for a number of years through my websites (Loghomeology, Log Furniture Directory) and blog. We have three daughters and live in NW Montana in the shadow of Glacier National Park.
Are you lucky enough to be living in a log home?
2008, the winter without end!
We LOVE winter and all that comes with it, but we also like to see the seasons change eventually. This morning (April 23rd.) we awoke to another morning of 26 degrees and a new blanket of snow.

Builder Radio Interview Now Live

Many of you probably know the folks at "Builder Radio", which is now called, "Selling More Homes Media Network". Anyway, today they aired an interview with me that may be of interest to anyone

who owns a business website.

Jerry Rouleau announced... "This week we speak with Tom Heatherington. Even the best websites are of…

Don't pay the ransom... I escaped!

It seems like its been about 3 years since I spent any time on this board… I cannot remember the last time I've been this busy - aren't we supposed to be sitting around doing nothing when the economy is this bad?

Spring is trying to make its way to NW Montana. This week we had a day of sunshine and 76 degrees - and the next day it snowed. Just about normal….

Oh well, time to get back to life in the fast lane in rural Montana :-)

No problems with Ravens anymore...

Okay, this post has absolutely nothing to do with log homes, and I know I'm bound to make somebody angry… BUT, as a fella who was born in Pittsburgh and has been a life-long Steeler fan…

Way to go Stillers, WAY To GO! We're off to Tampa!

To my friends in Baltimore... I apologize for the inhospitable way we treated the Ravens this evening.… Continue

Happy New Year All!

We've just said goodbye to one tumultuous year, and I for one am pleased to put that one in the history books and say good riddance! Apparently I'm not alone... The Drudge Report this morning has a headline that states, "Americans Under 70 May Find 2008 Was Their Least Favorite Year".

Before I head out to plow the drive (again)... did I mention that we have 2 feet of snow on the ground, 6" coming today, 10" more tonight and 6" for tomorrow has been forecasted? Global warming? Anyway,… Continue

Tom, ya betcha I will. We time-shared in Whitefish and drove everywhere, loving every moment of it.  Have you ever visited Banff National Park in Alberta Canada, now that is something for the eyes to see. We took a special vehicle, only 10 in the world, and rode on a glacier.  THey give you 15 minutes and that's it.  Remarkable.  Purchased alot of stuff in Montana for our cabin, what I couldn't fly back, we had it shipped.  We more than likely will come back again.  By the way, your dog is beautiful. The head size on your dog is probably as big as my little yorkie.  HaHa.  Take care. Talk later.  CJ from VA

Tom, haven't been on LogHome for awhile now. We flew into your town in 2010 and took a week for visit. Loved all of it. Glacier Nat'l Park is awesome. We travel to Nat'l Parks every couple of years or so. Save up money for our trips. This year will be Yellowstone & Grand Tetons. Love your dog.  We have a little yorkie.  CJ from VA.

Tom, Scout is at 50 lbs right now! And she was the runt of the litter...hmmm! She is only 5 mos so I think she'll end up being around the 80 mark if not more.

Ha! I know, I get comments like that all the time. It's a lot of work raising the kids. we still have four left at home. The bride wouldn't agree with you about needing sympathy though. I know you were just kidding but they are all great kids. Oops, that was a pun unintended.

Hey, I will work on posting some pics. Stay tuned. thanks for the welcome.
