With the outlines of the lower bathroom finished, Mr. Seals has turned
his attention to the kitchen, which is being installed on the upper
level in a former bedroom. Gabriel cleared the room out and Mr. Seals
moved in with his wrecking bar. What he found was not pleasant. The
joists were fashioned from logs that had been roughly hewn, and of
different sizes, making for an uneven floor. What was worse was the
rotting wood along the edges used to support the floorboards. The
thought that we had a piano on that trampoline floor makes one shudder.
Tearing the closet out gave us a completely open space to work in.
