Half a month from our last post and what progress we have made!

Well, it's been about half a month since our last post, and we've made some progress! Take a look at our pics and you can see the progress. You'll see that the dormers are framed out and that they have the roof sheeting on the main house. It's been nice to get at least get the sheeting on, as now we can keep the majority of the inside of the house dry. (with the large front windows though and no porch yet, we still get a lot blowing in though)

They cut the stairs in from the basement to the first floor. Colby was a little cautious the first time, but after that he's very excited to show visitors how to walk up and down the steps. The builder also got the basement framed out, so we can now see how large the family room will be and that we'll have lots of room in the utility room to hide all our mechanicals.

It's was fun watching them frame out the dormers. It took a couple days per dormer. Once they framed out the rooms on the second floor, we've now been able to really get a good feel for how everything is laid out in the house. We'll have plenty of room and have minimal changes to our original plans. The builder is at a standstill for a few weeks while they are awaiting us to get the porch footers poured and for the windows and doors to come in. If all goes as planned, we'll have the house stained before they come to put in the windows. Hopefully the weather will cooperate later this week and we can get a couple dry days in a row!

You'll also see that we got our garage doors hung. It took a little longer than the 1 hour in the video instructions we got, but in the end, they work pretty well (minus a little fine tuning that is needed still) and they look good too!

We had a busy day this week as the builder brought his skid steer out to drill the holes for the porch foundations (and got talked into drilling holes for our trees!) And, the well driller showed up this week to drill our water well. We are down around 400 feet, but hit water around 200. Didn't get to talk to him on Friday to get the final footage, but we'll figure it out this week as they finish things up.

Take care everyone!
