My wife and I moved to Tn. 14 months ago to build our dream home. We are hoping to get started within the next 2 months. We opted not to purchase a kit home. Rather we will purchase the "D" style logs from a supplier in Tn. and get the windows, doors, etc. locally. This will be a 2 story home. While clearing our property to start building we knocked over some tall hardwood trees. I want to use them in the construction project. The best place we can use them is in the stairs. We are getting ready to debark them soon. I've never built half sawn log stairs and I don't want to waste any logs on errors. Does anyone know where I can obtain information to do this. We have decided to scale down to 3700 sf. I NEED HELP IN TENNESSEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joe, thank you so very much. That will definitely work. I am a river boat captain and I will be going home on July 23. I will use this method. I is so simple. Thank you so much for sharing this idea with me. I'm amazed at how simple this is. Now all I have to do is make it work in reality. My stringers are approximately 20-24" in diameter. What was the height of your risers? Again, thanks a million.
