Hey everyone--it's been about a month since our last post.  While it seems like we didn't accomplish much, I guess when you step back and look at the big picture, we have.  So as you can see by the title of the post, YES, we are still messing with the roof.  But, we only have 1 day of some trim work left, so hopefully tomorrow we can close a chapter on it.  The weather turned pretty cold and started snowing a few weeks ago, so once again, weather delayed our roof project longer than we wanted, but we got the main roof on, and that allowed us to insulate before it got too cold.

We used regular fiberglass R30 in all of our rafters, and then put a foil double bubble over top of it.  We then taped all the seams and the edges as a vapor barrier.  It really helped seal the house up, and almost immediately the place started getting warmer.  Once we got all the insulating done, our general contractor came back and started hanging all the high ceilings for us in the loft and great room.  They have a little left to hang and then the large portion will be done.

We are then going to hang all the rest of the ceiling ourselves. First, we need to get the high wall in the great room done before the scaffolding is taken back to the shop.  And, we have to hang the wall between the master and great room.  Then they can install the steps to the second floor.  They delivered them this week, and we started staining them.  We decided we are going to do the treads in the lighter wall color and the risers in the dark trim color.  Figured it'd be easier to stain them before they were put together.

We also started plumbing in a central vacuum.  We decided that it'd be easier to do it now, and someday when we need a new vacuum, we'll just buy the whole house unit.  Hopefully over the next week or two, we'll get all the ceilings hung and the walls done too. If so, then we can get the interior walls stained and move onto the next wave of projects.

Take a peak at our new pics we posted.  We'll get a few more up of the completed roof soon.  Take care everyone.  Merry Christmas!
